Barry hails from Fleetwood, Pennsylvania where he lettered in soccer, basketball, and golf. After serving his country in the United States Air Force, Barry became a PGA golf professional in 1975 while serving his apprenticeship at The Berkshire Country Club in Reading, Pennsylvania. He became the head golf professional at Wilkes-Barre Golf Club in 1977, Irem Temple Country Club in 1981, Wyoming Valley Country Club in 1988, and became the Director of Golf at Ocala Palms in 2003. Barry and his wife Sherry, who hails from Texas, have two sons, Mark and Eric. Since arriving at Ocala Palms, Barry and Sherry have been a welcome addition, not only to the golf operation, but also to the community. They initiated the “Dance Under the Stars” for the residents, and reincarnated the golf cart parades on July 4th and Christmas. Not only do they work here but also reside at Ocala Palms.

GOLF LESSONS
Golf lessons are given by our resident PGA golf professional, Barry Fies by calling the pro shop at 352-732-GOLF (4653) to make an appointment. The rate is $35.00 for a 35-40 minute lesson and $150.00 for a series of 5 (five) lessons. Barry also conducts free clinics for our beginner residents during April and October.
